Kids Do!!!

One of my cute kiddos loves to dance and in a rare moment of down time we snuggled up and I turned on some YouTube videos of dance routines. After the second one he sat up turned to me and gave me the sweetest most gentle kiss on my cheek and then snuggled back in.
I became immediately teary eyed.  As I have pondered this sweet moment in time I came to this realization I have already known but it was a gentle reminder.  Time with our children doesn't need to be planned out, or an expensive endevour, or even a lot of time.  It can be 10 minutes of YouTube videos on a topic your child loves.

Kids Say

I'm currently recovering from surgery and asked if my youngest could bring me breakfast.  At first I was met with, "I'm not your servant", and a huge smile.

A bit later he comes bounding up the stairs in his pajamas and running shoes and my breakfast.  "Here is 3 pieces of pizza and an apple, so you don't get an upset stomach."  I giggle and then he says, "I'm trying to be a responsible son!"

I asked him why he was wearing his running shoes with his pajamas?  "So I can run around the house 20 times this morning?"

He just absolutely makes my heart laugh!

Organizing- The Homework Room

When we were looking for a new home a couple years ago the one thing I did not want was wasted space.  In my mind a formal dining room was just that a waste.  Especially with homes built in the last 20 years having large eat in spaces are common but always there was the dining room to go with it.  My husband loved our home from the minute we walked in, I on the other hand was overwhelmed with lots and lots if wasted space.  I took the weekend to go over every square inch of space in what could be our new home and make sure how we really live would work in this new space without feeling like I we were being overindulgent and wasting.  It came down to the dining room and then it occurred to me I am always having the children pack up their homework to set the table for dinner...(light bulbs are everywhere above my head with exclamation points dancing all around)...A HOMEWORK ROOM!!!!

I have been working in here for about 9 months(as soon as I started a huge project came my way that I couldn't pass up and so my completely torn apart homework room just sat) until now.

Here is the first of many little projects for our homework room.  I have had these baskets for 12 years they have held everything from diapers and wipes to FHE folders to books to toys to craft supplies and they need a little tlc as you can see:

I found this great burlap for $3.00 for a yard:

I cut it to wrap around the basket and using some spray adhesive and a hot glue gun we have this:

I love it when you can take something you have and for $1.50 give it new life!!!

What are you going to give new life to around your home?

Julia

Perfectly Peeled Boiled Eggs

I want to share a little secret of how to have perfectly peeled boiled eggs every time.
After the eggs have been boiling 2 minutes take a spoon and crack every egg while they are boiling... It really is that simple and here are the fabulous results:

Kids Say

Every family has one, the one who would rather talk than eat, the one you wait for, the one that needs one more trip to the restroom.  Well we have one and as I'm nearing the end of eating my breakfast one morning and noticing the meticulous nature of a breakfast still being prepared I hear,

"Mom look at this it's finished." (And in the best announcer voice with 2 hands presenting his creation) he continues, "Mt Pancakious, with a syrup waterfall, and 2 sausage canoes!"

     He cracks me up!!!!

Kids Say

"Whenever I'm wearing socks or shoes I try to hold my sneezes in so they don't blow off my feet"

This guy makes me laugh everyday!
